Language Course

I subscribed to a language course -absolutely free- three days ago. It is not teaching me any language, but give me tips how to learn new language. I have passion with language. One of my dreams is to speak in seven languages. Is it impossible? No, it's possible. I do not mean to master in seven languages. What I mean is I can speak the basic conversation in seven languages. Now I can speak four languages. I'm thinking to start my fifth language next year, but still do not make a decision which language is my fifth language. My list is Vietnamese, because I born there, Chinese, because it's a biggest language in the world or French. I happy if anybody can give his/her opinion about this.

Back to the topic, here is the lesson one from the course. The author give his permission to share his article, and I want to share it with my readers...

It's a FACT!

Anyone can learn a foreign language. They can also do it easier
and quicker than they ever believed they could.

Even if you flunked languages at school, don't consider yourself
an academic, or doubt your ability to ever speak in a foreign
tongue, the truth is that you simply haven't been going about it
the right way. If you approach it correctly you WILL learn a
foreign language, and quicker than you imagined you could.

This five part mini-course will give you a start on some of the
most crucial techniques that you need to learn a language. By
the time you have finished you will be far better equipped to
learn any foreign language you choose.

We have much to cover so lets get started.

------------------------------
------------------------------------
"How to learn any language, on your own, as quickly and easily as
possible"

The definitive guide to learning any foreign language.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 1 - Choosing the language you want to learn

Many, many people make a huge, critical error, before they even
open up their first textbook or speak their first word in a
foreign language.

They choose completely the wrong language to learn!

Some people may have the motivation of a job abroad to go, to or
a close family member or friend who speaks a foreign language and
the decision is made for them. Most people however don't have one
specific language in mind or may be unsure of which language
they want to learn.

If people don't start on the right language for them however they
are setting themselves up on the road to disaster.

A good proportion of language learners, far too many, give up
within six months of starting. Many of these quitters started on
the wrong language for them and their enthusiasm simply burned out.

It is terrible waste of time and effort if you start on a language
like Chinese, only for three months down the line to decide that
the language is too difficult and you just don't have the
motivation to put up with the difficulty level.

An experience like this may well end up putting you off starting
to learn a foreign language ever again. It's a terrible waste
because anybody can truly learn a language, but far too many
end up giving up because their approach was all wrong.

So your first step on the road to success is making sure that you
have chosen the language that is right for you.

There are two key factors in choosing which language to learn -
usefulness and difficulty level.

Usefulness first.

You have to got to ask yourself a number of questions to
determine if a language will be useful before you begin. If it is
not going to be useful then you really should choose something
else.

You may have your heart set on learning Thai for example. You have
got to be realistic with yourself. Will you ever go to Thailand?
Will you ever get the chance to talk to a Thai person? Will you
be able to obtain books, films etc. in Thai.? Will you be able to
use Thai in you career? If you answered no to most of those
questions then you should seriously think again. If you choose a
language for nothing other than fascination you will give yourself problems.

When choosing always think about the following factors.

- choose a language where you are likely to visit the country
where it is spoken, even if it is just on holiday.

- choose a language in which you can regularly talk to people who
speak the language in question.

- choose a language that will be profitable for your career or
social life.

- choose a language where you will easily be able to obtain
good quality courses, books, newspapers and films. You would have
great difficulty with this if learning Thai.

Considering all of the above, it is always best to choose a
mainstream language rather than an obscure one unless you have a
particular reason for learning that obscure language (job, travel,
relatives etc.). Mainstream languages will always offer you more
chances to practice, better instructional materials, and a far
greater chance of success.

Mainstream languages are French, Spanish, German, Italian,
Russian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese etc. Choose one of these
and you can't go wrong.

Now onto the second factor, difficulty level.

It is worth noting that no language is ever too difficult for
anyone to learn. But going back to the Thai example, if you choose
Thai for mere curiosity than anything else you will have problems.
Thai is extremely difficult and if your motivation is less than
100% you will probably end up giving up.

If you are 100% committed to learning a difficult language, such as
Chinese for example, you will succeed, but if you try learn
Chinese half-heartedly, you will no doubt end up giving up.

So where possible, choose a language that is easier to learn and
you will end up having better success. You will progress more
rapidly, be able to read newspapers and converse with natives
sooner, and have an overall more pleasurable and motivated
journey.

The easiest languages for native English speakers to learn are
the Western European languages such as Spanish, Italian,
Portugese, Danish, Dutch and Swedish. French and German are more
difficult than all of those but still at the easier end of the
scale.

The harder languages are typically the languages of Eastern Europe
and other parts of the world such as Russian, Polish, Greek,
Turkish and Arabic. The very hardest languages are typically the
Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese or Thai.

Overall to ensure your success on your foreign language learning
journey you have to pick a language that will be both useful and
not overtly difficult. Be sure that you are fully set in your
mind before you start and you can't fail.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We still have many more language learning tips coming up in the
next few days. See you in part 2.

All the best,
David

One of my readers asked me about maintenance the blog. I wrote early this month that I spend USD10 for the maintenance. In fact some people spent a lot of money for this purpose. It's like an investment. If you do it in the right way, you can get big benefit from it, and that is why some people make tones of money here, in the blogosphere.

If you are a serious blogger, you must know about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Have a blog which get a good rank from google and other search engine is a dream for almost all the bloggers. The problem is you need the money to use the SEO. Most of the SEO are base of monthly payment, and the result is not guaranteed.

BWF Super Series Masters Finals

At the end of the year, BAM should be so proud with our badminton's player, and we share their feeling. Without China's players this competition lost some 'exciting moment', but our national give us that moment, the moment of glory... Let the pro tell us the rest...

Malaysian Shuttlers Sweep Three Titles In Super Series Masters Finals

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysian shuttlers ended the season on a high and in style by sweeping three of the five titles at stake in the Super Series Masters Finals that ended at the Likas Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

Despite the absence of the Chinese players who stayed away citing fatigue, the finals provided enough excitement to keep the badminton fans who filled the Likas Indoor Stadium to the brim, on the edge of their seats with some sizzling action.

Current World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei and former world number one men's doubles pair Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong swept the men's singles and doubles titles while Wong Pei Tty/Chin Eei Hui captured the women's doubles.

Chong Wei, the top seed in the tournament, beat Denmark's Peter Gade in straight sets 21-8, 21-16 in the men's singles final while Kien Keat-Boon Heong disposed South Korean pair Lee Yong-dae/Jung Jae-sung also in straight sets 21-18, 21-16 in the men's doubles final.

For Chong Wei who pocketed USD40,000 (RM136,000), it was the first title since becoming the world number one after the Beijing Olympics in August and also capped a satisfying end the season as he had also won the season opening Malaysian Open in January.

Though the final against Gade was a lop-sided affair, especially in the first set when Chong Wei raced to a 12-0 lead before the Danish veteran was able to break the duck, the win would nevertheless be a significant one, especially after a six-month drought of titles.

"This is a very satisfying win and my next target is to win the All England," said Chong Wei whose last Super Series title was in June when he captured the Singapore Open.

For Kien Keat-Boon Heong, beating the Koreans, ranked number two in the world and winning the title, their first of the year, holds bigger significance after coming under heavy criticism ever since emerging as the most exciting pair after winning the All England title in 2007.

The pair who subsequently climbed to the world number one spot are now languishing in sixth spot and had a miserable year which even prompted their coach Rexy Mainaky to consider splitting the duo.

For top seeds Pei Tty-Eei Hui who beat Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir 21-15, 22-20 in straight sets, it was their most memorable career win and first major title of the season.

"We played exceptionally well today and everything worked in favour, the drop shots, smashes all hit the target. The money would also come in handy since the Chinese New Year is just around the corner," said Pei Tty who held aloft the mock cheque for USD42,000 (RM142,000).

Meanwhile, the women's singles was won by Zhou Mi of Hong Kong who beat team-mate Wang Chen 21-14, 21-18 while Danish pair Thomas Laybourn/Kamilia Rytter Johl, the world number two, upset top seeds Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir 21-19, 18-21, 22-20 in three exciting sets.

Results (All Finals):

Men's Singles: Lee Chong Wei (MAS) bt Peter Gade (DEN) 21-8, 21-16

Men's Doubles: Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong (MAS) bt Lee Yong-dae/Jung Jae-sung (KOR) 21-18, 21-14

Women's Singles: Zhou Mi (HKG) bt Wang Chen (HKG) 21-14, 21-18

Women's Doubles: Chin Eei Hui/Wong Pei Tty (MAS) bt Liliyana Natsir/Vita Marissa (INA) 21-15, 22-20

Mixed Doubles: Thomas Laybourn/Kamilia Rytter Johl bt Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir 21-19, 18-21, 22-20.

Over the past two years of blogging, Mariuca has met so many new people, from all walks of life and all over the world, each one bringing a little of their culture and lifestyle when they visit and comment on Mariuca’s two sites. The three New Jersey girls named him immediately and burst into a wonderful song for BEAR-iuca:

BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, amazing teddy cheer.
BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, we’d love you to come live here!

Mariuca received 16 possible names for the Mariuca Teddy Bear, making it hard for the Genie Princess to choose just one…then Alakazam! Another Wonderful Saturday Evening At Taman Tamadun Islam

One of my favorite place now is Taman Tamadun Islam. My first visiting to that amazing place was on October 13, with my Hammad. I seldom go to Masjid Kristal, but do not enter the Taman Tamadun Islam since my first visit. Today I make my second visiting to Taman Tamadun Islam, together with Hammad and his cousin, Aqib Asyraf.

Like my first visiting, I spend my golden time there. For me this is a great idea from our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and our former Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh. I feel that I go to different world, which I can visit from one country to another, seeing the amazing miniature monument of the mosques around the world in my own town, Kuala Terengganu.

For my son, Hammad, what he want is 'naik-naik turun' playing at the playground. But this time he was more tolerant with me. He gave me the chance to complete 'my journey' before asking for his fun time. At the end of the golden evening, we were riding bicycle together, my first riding after 15 years maybe...

Aqib, my nephew is staying with us for 5 days. He has an interview at Imtiaz Kospint on Monday. My wife will accompany him as his parent cannot do so for some reasons. They live at Ampang, Selangor and maybe have to move to Kajang in these days. I hope Aqib has a golden evening like me and Hammad.

Another Good Posting From Ustaz Jaafar

I hope to translate this posting to English, but I can't. I still don't have ability to write anything I want in English. I give myself another one year to do that. Imagine you can write whatever you want...

Ustaz Jaafar always give us the good posting at elmadinah group.
